The experience
No ordinary go-kart race
Power Up Racing is not a lap around a circle. Race over glowing coins to build your score and increase your speed. Drive over mystery boxes to unlock power-ups. When your steering column lights up green, press the button and find out what you got — a speed boost, a protective shield, or the power to slow another racer down. Hit a splat and you lose the points you spent the race collecting.
That means there are two ways to win every race. The Power Up Champion finishes with the highest coin and point total. The Fastest Lap Champion simply goes round quickest. It is entirely possible to lose one and win the other, which is where most of the arguing comes from.
Junior Power Up races run the same format at a slower pace for younger drivers. Double karts let an adult drive with a passenger aged 5 or over riding along, at no extra charge for the passenger.
And if you would rather the track just be a track, Thunderbolt Racing strips all of it out. No coins, no power-ups, no luck. Five minutes of pure speed where the fastest lap wins and nothing else counts.
Two ways to win every race — and it is entirely possible to lose one and win the other.
Good to know
- Power Up drivers must be at least 10 years old. Junior single-kart drivers must also be at least 48 inches tall.
- Thunderbolt drivers must be at least 16 years old and 48 inches tall.
- In a double kart the driver must be 18 or older and the passenger at least 5 years old.
- A completed Silver Stone Castle waiver is required for every driver and passenger.
- Closed-toe footwear is required — no sandals, no bare feet.
- Each race lasts approximately five minutes.
- All racers must follow staff instructions and posted safety requirements.
- Race bundles never expire on the day — share them with your party or save them for another visit.
Every guest needs a signed waiver
Sign it online before you arrive and walk straight in. One waiver covers your whole visit, and a parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18.

What makes Power Up Racing different from normal go-karts?
Coins, mystery boxes and power-ups. You collect coins for points and speed, and power-ups can give you a boost, a shield, or the ability to slow another racer down. Hitting a splat costs you points.
How do you win?
There are two winners in every race: the Power Up Champion with the highest coin and point total, and the Fastest Lap Champion who posts the quickest single lap.
How old do you have to be to drive?
Ten for Power Up Racing, sixteen and 48 inches for Thunderbolt. Junior single-kart drivers must be 10 and 48 inches tall.
Can a young child ride along?
Yes. In a double kart the driver must be 18 or older and the passenger at least 5. The passenger rides free.
What is Thunderbolt Racing?
Straight racing with no power-ups — five minutes of pure speed where the fastest lap wins. It costs $35 and is for drivers 16 and over.
Are bundles worth it?
Yes, they bring the cost per race down. You can mix race types, share them across your party, and save unused races for a future visit.
Do I need a waiver?
Yes, every driver and passenger needs a completed Silver Stone Castle waiver before racing.
